Sand Daughter revamp: Ya'arburnee
Immi pulled the window down against the sill, sealing it against the wind as she peered down at Gemma flouncing out onto the sidewalk. Eileen stood by her car and Gemma leapt into her arms, spinning around her like she was… well, like she was a pole in a Greenwich Village club.
The sun was angled low, honeying what sky could be glimpsed between the skyscrapers. It gave the apartment an easy illusion of safety. Immi pulled her oversized hoodie around her shoulders, glad that she’d turned down Gemma’s invitation to hit the town on some kind of Last Supper-style double date.
That’s what she’d actually called it, l

Come daylight, Loht and I found ourselves seated around one of the cook fires the drejus had managed to foster in spite of our waterlogged surroundings. Loht’s kill crackled delightfully amid the smoke. He’d gone hunting in the night once the rain had let up and had snatched up a few ground-dwelling animals venturing out of their burrows. That was before the shallows had caught up to our shelter.
“The earth here is cavernous,” Lin was explaining. Her full name, we learned, was Kynlin. The dreju runners sat in a ring around the flames, but she had settled herself close to Saxa, leaning into the dobhar’s side as t

I was overwhelmed by the unknown quality of the land. “Don’t tell me we’ll have to navigate the way to Adrin by Sight,” I sighed. Loht looked at me flatly, and then rolled his eyes in a thoughtful way that suggested that this wasn’t the worst idea.
“Don’t be bothered with that,” he said, loping forward. “We’ll find it, whether by magic or other means. I’m not above asking those we might encounter.”
I peered over my shoulder at the dark scar of the chasm. Those we might encounter. Between the villagers of Windridge who shunned the Hriame and Tauga lines and the malicious

StormMaster - Part 12: Time
Three weeks passed since mine and Denne’s homecoming, and in all that time I’d not once visited the Wind-Roads. Nor had I heard from Loht or Aly. It started getting colder in Vanalton, and I found myself staying indoors more often than on the brisk walks I usually took at this time of year, opting to stay away from outside friends and acquaintances. Denne was often forcing me out of the apartment, and every so often I’d tag along with her and Mitch. She’d been seeing him more and more frequently since we’d returned. I asked her about it once, and only caught some embarrassed – or maybe solemn – mumbl
Quickie creative update: I'm super excited to announce that I've been nominated as a finalist in the Comics category of Broken Pencil Magazine's annual Zine Awards for my second zine, Slow Heal! It's available to buy on my Etsy, and will also be available through the magazine's online store :D I'm also participating in the Canzine Festival for the second time, which is currently live. Tomorrow is the last day to shop the festival, and you can find me [here] in the Bento Books section. I'm terrible at self-promo :D
From time to time I mosey back to dA and log in, and every couple of years I discover that a wayback Windstorm reader has left me a lovely note or a comment. It still blows me away, and I'm still so appreciative that my writing has stuck with people and that they still feel compelled to track me down and say so. So for anyone who has stumbled onto this page looking for the author of the Windstorm Saga from back in the day, YES I was sara_mossflower, but these days you can call me Stellan (he/him/his)! To keep tabs on me and the things I am writing and doodling, you can find me at: Instagram for doodles: https://www.instagram.com/servallystellan/ Tumblr for writerly babbling/updates and a little bit of queer babbling: https://servallystellan.tumblr.com/ Wordpress for personal blogging/essays: https://sincerelystellan.com/ I'm honestly shocked when people tell me they randomly googled "Sisslio" and then caught up on the StormMaster chapters they didn't know existed, or
After making excuses for years, I AM making art again! Back in the habit of doodling every day and it feels great, particularly messing around with my new love: gouache! Only thing is that I've been posting such goodies on other platforms. For anyone who still watches this space, I'll leave you some links.
Been posting art to Instagram, including plenty of experiments and doodles: https://www.instagram.com/cuovamesto/
I'll probably do artsy posts on my very-incomplete-looking blog at some point. Blog link is on Insta, but I'll also put it here: https://cuovamesto.wordpress.com/
Why am I suddenly making a real effort to keep up a blog? Beca
Hi! Sorry to bother but I LOVE your Windstorm series on neopets .Is it possible you can send me a link on every related story/drawing you have made since then? Thank you in advance.
Hi again. On the off chance you look at this... I went back on what I said and uploaded StormMaster to this dA account. Or at least started doing so today! Enjoy, if you find and read it. And thanks again for being a reader way back when.
